Within the ”Come to Brancusi`s Homeland!” programme, Ist edition, on September 12th 2014 the Cmmerce and Industry Chamber of Romania held an event for the tourism promotion of Gorj County. Participants at the conference were local officials from Gorj county, representatives of the Romanian Government, representatiives from the National Authority for Tourism, members of the National Association of Tourism Agencies in Romania, managers of art and culture institutions, local officials, representatives of the local/regional/national and international agencies, local providers of touristic products and services and local/regional and national press. Also his Excellency Gerard Corr, Ambasador of Ireland in Bucharest was present.
The project for creating ”Brancusi`s Homeland” Association was presented at the conference, the founding members offering presentations of the main tourist attractions of Gorj.
- IInd Edition– 2015
At the IInd edition of the project ”Come to Brancusi`s Homeland!” the Association was a strategic partner in organising the International Tourism Forum ”BRÂNCUȘI’S HOMELAND”. The event was a communication and debate platform that brought together specialists and researchers in tourism, operators, investors, promoters of tourism. The Forum targeted – aside from establishing artnerships and contacts – an useful experience exchange regarding the tourism relations between Romania and the countries invited, the legislations and cooperation terms, but also combining strategies for the tourism in this region. Omr. Bogdan pandelica was present on behalf of the Ministry for Economy, Commerce and Tourism secretary of state in connection with tourism affairs, and on behalf of the National Authority for Tourism, mr. Mattefy Gyozo and mr. Simion Giurca, ANT – Vienna office. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was represented by mrs. Monica Joița, deputy director of the Public, Cultural and Scietific Diplomacy Office. Also, mr. Victor Negrescu, MEP was present.
The participants at the Forum came from Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Turkey, Republic of Moldova, but also Austria, a recent market for tourism opened by the recent events to promote Gorj that were held in Vienna. The participant from Austria was mr. Wolfganf Reindl, the manager of SAB Tour company, who expressed his avalability to include Gorj County, especially Transalpina road in his tourist offers for next year.
Speacialists from tourism branches of Romanian colleges were also present (Economic Studies Academy, ”Hyperion” University, ”Upper Danube” University from Galati, ”Spiru Harte” University from Bucharest, University of Craiova, ”Constantin Brancusi” University from Targu jiu), and researchers in the tourism field.
From the NGO sector, there were participants from ”Mihai Eminescu” Association from Vienna – Austria, Tourism Agencies National Association – ANAT, ”Prahova Valley” Tourism Promotion Association, Ecological and Rural Tourism National Association – ANTREC, ”Green House of Danube” Assocation.
There were also a few mayors from different towns in Gorj present at the Forum, local tourism entrepreneurs, hotels and restaurants owners and administrators. The guests were offered promotional items, gifts and souvenirs, as well as ”BrancusiHomeland” Magazine.
MEAT TROTTERS FESTIVAL – VIIIth edition
The event was organised at Vila Ursu in Tismana, by the Ecological and Rural Tourism National Association – ANTREC Gorj and Tismana Town Hall, the founding members of „Brancusi`s Homeland” Association. The guest of the festival, Radu Ciobanu, declared: As every year, the participants were oners of local accommodation facilities, restaurants and more, who presented recipes from all over the country: pork, viel, chicken, turkey and even fish jellies. Specific to the area of Gorj is that the cod jellies are eaten with hot sarmale and cornbread. There were lot of guest house owners present, both from Gorj and Mehedinti Counties.”
